Our Origin Story
Almost a year ago, two women on different sides of a Zoom call found themselves having a conversation that would quietly plant the seed for something big.
On one side was Shana Ayabe, a Senior Vice President and Head of Marketing at a $100B+ asset management firm. On paper, she had everything; the title, the influence, the trajectory. But something had shifted. She wasn’t burned out or broken. She was simply… misaligned.
After returning from what was supposed to be a rejuvenating vacation, Shana realized the hard truth: her body was sounding the alarm her mind didn’t want to hear. The company she had helped build, and the identity she had attached to it, no longer aligned with who she was becoming.
As she shared her experience with Kisha Imani Cameron, her executive coach and confidante, the conversations deepened. They talked about the gap between external success and internal peace, the tension between ambition and authenticity, and the courage it takes to walk away from something that looks “right” to everyone else.
Kisha understood it intimately. She had lived her own version of that story; leaving behind a high-powered career as a studio executive to become an entrepreneur, leadership coach, and advocate for creative reinvention.
Over time, those coaching sessions became an exploration of what it really means to evolve.
Then one day, Shana shared an idea that had been forming quietly in the background:
“What if there was a podcast where we could have the conversations we wish existed when we were contemplating our own exits?”
She didn’t want to create another show about quitting. She wanted to create a space for people navigating the in-between; the messy, human middle between “I’m done” and “I figured it out.” A place for truth, humor, and the kind of vulnerability that sparks transformation.
Kisha’s response? Hell yes.
That idea became The Exit Interview On Air... a podcast not about leaving, but about becoming.
About The Show
Work is changing fast — and honestly, so are we. AI is changing the landscape. Titles don’t mean what they used to. Value alignment is the new currency. And somewhere between burnout, ambition, and purpose, people are asking: What’s actually worth it? The old playbook for “success” doesn’t hit the same.
The Exit Interview | On Air is here to unpack all of it. We're the ones who will tell the truth and ask the uncomfortable questions. Hosted by Shana Ayabe and Kisha Imani Cameron, the show dives into the real
stories behind bold career moves, identity shifts, innovation and reinvention in a world that refuses to sit still. Each week, we invite you into the conversation with people who’ve walked away, started over, or leveled up on their own terms: Trailblazers taking big swings and rewriting the rules. Reinventionists navigating non-linear careers and second acts. Culture Icons—actors, executives, creators, and disruptors leading the way. Insight Guides from business, tech, media, and finance who drop the tools and truths you actually need to survive this new world of work.
This isn’t another corporate pep talk or LinkedIn highlight reel. It’s the group chat you wish you had — where ambition meets honesty, humor meets heart, and everyone’s just trying to make work...work again.
We talk about the risks taken, negotiations and navigations, purpose and motivations — the stuff behind the résumés. Because let’s be real: success isn’t one-size-fits-all anymore. For some, it’s peace. For others, ownership. For most of us, it’s alignment. The Exit Interview fuses finance and entertainment, delivering storytelling with authentic human energy. The result? Smart, relatable conversations that sound less like interviews and more like real life. So pull up a seat. We’re your new work besties — here to laugh, unpack, and navigate this wild new era of work with you.
Radically honest. Relatable. Real. Because not all exits are created equal.
